The Be well story

JESS

We are Sobhan & Jessica Namvar and we are the founders of Be WELL at Black Barn Farm. I (Sobhan) am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Jess is an experienced math teacher at the High School level.

WELL stands for Wellness, Exploration, Learning, and Living. These are really important concepts in living a complete life as we explore the unknown, ourselves, today and tomorrow. Our focus is to explore the past to allow us to be more present and become more centered today. I learned long ago that this is quite a tall task when you have had to deal with hardship and trauma in your life.

It is no secret that we are all very intricate works of art. However, some areas of our lives are blurry, some shine through, and some are well-covered.

Why the Farm and the story behind it:

The land we live on used to be a thriving farm until it stopped getting maintained. The land had become broken down and in need of a great deal of love and care. Through a tremendous amount of help from family and professionals the land was made to be livable again. But, there was something missing. The land on the outside looked great and offered a lot of space for us to walk and our dog, ZIA, and later, RYZ to run.  Yet, there was a void and emptiness that needed to be filled. So the barn became a project and started to get cleaned up. Then the first two lambs were brought to the fam, then goats, then one-day-old chicks, then some pigeons, and then a rescued barn cat by the name of Monkey who has since passed away. Slowly a fence went in to create a paddock for the animals.

This process was intimidating and scary, but the results have been amazing. The land and the barn were not scared by the process, but we were. However, our confidence grew with each mistake and each lesson. Now the barn is thriving, the land gives us fruits and vegetables, and we have seen many animals born and some pass away. The trees turn and turn back, the grass grows, the snow falls, but it all remains and grows a little more.

The process this land has gone through is so symbolic of what we go through as we deal with difficulties. We change, we go through pain, we grow, we get challenged, we take risks and we become free. The farm did not grow in one day; it slowly grew. This is a very important point because as you engage in therapy at Be Well at Black Barn Farm the process will be slow but effective. This allows for precision and for reevaluation and going back and correcting things.

The results are amazing. To be able to sit with oneself and truly enjoy; and to not hear the airplanes, bombs, negative comments, self doubt, shame, and/or pain is a beautiful and powerful thing.

I hope we get to walk a transformative walk with you as you come to spend time to explore yourself, your feelings, your life, and your path ahead with us.

Peace and much love,
